Save the Date: True Parents at the Garden

Yes, it’s official! True Mother will return to America and speak at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, July 15, 2017. That date is an important anniversary: it was on July 15, 2012 that True Father left the United States for the last time to return to Korea. We didn’t know then that it would be the last time to see him in America.

It is very meaningful that exactly five years later, True Mother will speak of the dream of God and True Parents at this most illustrious venue. This event will be the latest chapter in True Parents’ long history at Madison Square Garden. In 1974, True Father delivered his landmark message “The New Future of Christianity” to an overflow crowd there, and True Parents returned to the Garden to officiate the Holy Blessing of 2075 couples in 1982, and then again for the great interfaith Blessing ’98.

July 15, 2017 will be an unforgettable opportunity to share about God and True Parents’ dream for humankind. Join us in New York for this historic event!

It will be an all-ticket event, and supplies are very limited. Preregistration can be made here.

The day after Madison Square Garden, on Sunday, July 16, we will have a huge, happy victory picnic party at Belvedere. A block of several hundred rooms has been reserved at the New Yorker for Friday and Saturday, July 14 – 15, so please make a long weekend of it!

We want to encourage all families in America to join us in making an all-out effort to bring about a great, historic success.

  1. Pray! First of all, let us all offer sincere prayers for Heavenly Parents and True Parents’ complete victory. Let us pray for True Mother, and pray that God can use this opportunity to effect a great change in this nation, desperately in need of His word and guidance. A national 40-day condition of prayer will begin on June 5 and will carry to July 14. Detailed guidelines to follow shortly. Let us use the coming week to jump start on this condition with fervent prayers.
  2. Be There! Second, no matter where you live, please make definite plans to come, not alone but with your family, relatives, neighbors and tribe. You just have to be there! The program will have something for everyone, not just for FFWPU but all of our friends at UPF, ACLC, WFWP, CARP and all organizations.
  3. Donate! Third, we could really use your help to raise the funds to hold such a prestigious event. We’d like to invite all families to donate $700 or more if possible. Online donations can be made now at the FFWPU Special Donation Page.

Please visit this link to reserve your New Yorker Hotel rooms. The rate of $149 is per night per room (there will be tax added but all other fees have been waived). You can select your room type and number of nights at the time of reservation. This rate is guaranteed until June 30. After that date, the rate may go up. Please act fast to reserve your rooms to ensure we can keep our block and this rate.

First Day of Global Top Gun Youth

Throughout the weekend, a total of 1200 participants from all around the world arrived in Cheongpyeong for the Global Top Gun Youth (GTGY) Workshop.

Staff members for the GTGY workshop—comprised of representatives from Universal Peace Academy (UPA) as well as the International Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Headquarters and the FFWPU Japan, Korea, and USA national ministry teams—all met together for the first time on Saturday, July 30, as they prepared to answer True Mother’s call to receive over 1000 international middle, high school, and university students.

As students poured in from around the world, they were warmly welcomed by the staff and registered for what promises to be the global youth event of the year.

On the first day of the workshop, August 1, participants gathered for the official opening ceremonies, where True Mother came to address them directly. Prior to True Mother’s arrival, the GTGY participants prepared their hearts and minds to receive True Mother by learning to say phrases like, “Mother, we love you!” and “Mother is beautiful!” in Korean.

After welcoming True Mother, each region was invited to stand up and give rousing cheers and applause for God and True Parents. True Mother then spoke to the participants for 40 minutes on the themes of the Only Begotten Daughter, Jesus’s mission, and the opportunities and responsibilities open to all Unificationists.

Upon concluding her remarks, True Mother joined the participants seated before the stage and the ever-popular Apple Heaven band stepped up to play several energizing songs. Having recently recorded their first album, Apple Heaven concluded their set for the day by giving a copy of their album to each of the GTGY participants in attendance.

The opening ceremonies subsequently ended with an address by Sun Gil Cho, Secretary General of International Headquarters of FFWPU.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates daily as the Global Top Gun Youth Workshop continues in the weeks ahead!

GTGY Meet with their Elder Sisters and Brother

Contributed by Shinyoung Chang

The Global Top Gun Youth (GTGY) Workshop began on August 1. Because of True Mother’s sincere desire to invest in the education of youth, she generously offered to cover the workshop fee for all 1,200 participants, allowing as many as 120 American Unificationist youth to attend.

On our first day, the GTGYers heard from True Mother directly. You can read more about our experiences of meeting with True Mother here.

Today, Sun Jin Moon, International President of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) came with her husband In Sup Moon, International Vice President of FFWPU, and sister-in-law Professor Yeon Ah Moon, International President of Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), to spend time with the workshop participants.

The Universal Peace Academy (UPA) band played a few songs to lift up our hearts and minds as we started our day together. Then the three guests walked up on stage, where they sat cross-legged on the stage floor wearing GTGY shirts! This set up made the participants particularly excited and open to hearing their remarks because it felt very familial and engaging.

Sun Jin Moon guided the participants in a reading of True Father’s autobiography, A Peace Loving Global Citizen, then talked about her life and how the love of God and True Parents have helped her to address the obstacles she has faced.

At the conclusion of her main remarks, there was an opportunity for question-and-answer, and a lot of the Japanese and international participants asked questions about True Mother and how to better understand her heart. They also asked how to serve True Parents well when they’re still so young. Sun Jin Moon answered the participants honestly and openly, sharing that True Parents, like our own parents, love us and want us to be happy and to excel in what we create.

After the question-and-answer session ended, Sun Jin Moon then led a combined dance and exercise session featuring the famous “Bounce” song and also freestyle dancing. The international participants were particularly excited by the opportunity to dance together with Sun Jin Moon and the other GTGY participants.

In the afternoon, all of the participants gathered together again to play icebreakers and get to know one another better. Because there are so many GTGYers here, it turned out to be a huge competition with games and prizes, and the winners were ultimately chosen by voting with rousing cheers.

The participants then ended their day together as they will every day: practicing a song for one hour in the evening to be performed at the upcoming commemoration of True Father’s fourth Seonghwa anniversary. Many are even preparing to continue practicing the songs once we go on pilgrimage tomorrow, August 3.

Be sure to stay tuned for more updates about our adventures as we head out on the road!

Checking in with Ocean Challenge

The National Ocean Challenge Program is now rolling into its second week with full force. This year, 36 participants, by far the largest group NOCP has ever had, have gathered in Alaska from all over the United States as well as Japan, Korea, and Russia, to understand True Parents’ vision for ocean providence. During the first week, all the participants earned their CPR certifications at the U.S. Coast Guard base. They also had their first taste of Alaskan river fishing in Chiniak, where they caught many fish and learned about the importance of high and low river tides. After undertaking the challenge of starting a fire, they cooked and ate the day’s catch together on the shore.
